Essential Oils Guide
So you’ve heard about Essential Oils, and have seen the diffusers. You’re probably thinking to yourself what’s so good about this mist of oil in the air? How is this going to help me. Well I’m going to share with you my complete guide on Essential Oils, what they are used for and how they can benefit you. Essential Oils are organic compounds extracted from plants with amazing healing properties. Essential Oils have been used for over 5,000 years, cultures have used healing plant oils for a variety of health issues over the years. The use of Essential Oils for healing purposes is called Aromatherapy. This practice is used often for relaxation, beauty care, cleaning, and more.
What are Essential Oils?
Essential Oils are properties of flowers, bark, fruit, leaves, seeds or parts of trees that have been extracted to create a oil. Essential oils are highly concentrated oils that have a strong aroma. The oils are extracted by distilling the items and taking the water compound out, this is done by steam. Essential oils in nature are the part of the plant that protects the plant from a harsh atmosphere and weather.
Essential Oil Applications
There are four commonly used ways that people are using Essential Oils for now a days:
Topically – Essential oils have a very small size and of the chemical weight of less than 1000m (m = weight of molecule). According to scientific testing, any substance with a molecular weight below 1000m should be absorbed by the skin.
Aromatic- This is the most common use due to the uprising of popularity. The most commonly used method are using the oils in a diffuser for allergies, for better sleep, or relaxation in general. They can also be used as a cleaning additive to remove unwanted odors.
Ingestion – Essential oils can be used as a powerful form of medicine but it should be remembered that again, essential oils are powerful. Most essential oils are safe for internal use but a little bit goes a long way. Usually 1-3 drops is plenty mixed with water.
Oils like peppermint, lemon and frankincense have great internal benefits and can be taken with water. Other essential oils like clove and oregano need to be diluted and shouldn’t be taken internally for more than 1 week.
Personal Care – Today, the fastest way essential oils are being used is by making homemade DIY personal care products. This is an excellent away to take advantage of essential oils to improve your beauty, home and long term health.
Where Can You Get Essential Oils?
Essential Oils have become a large popularity on the internet and among homes across the world. Due to the uprising of using the oils, they can be found in most stores. I prefer to purchase my essential oils from these two companies and here is why:
I love Spark Naturals, they are a cheap company for oils, but have the best quality. All of their oils are Certified pure PharmaGrade which means they guarentee all of their essential oils are 100% pure and they meet a high standard. Most companies can’t commit to such a high standard and it’s scary to think you’re putting something harmful on your skin ( the largest organ of your body!).
